Screen Printing Frame

Way back in High School, we had a Graphic Arts department. This was what I wanted to be when I grew up. I spent many hours in the lab, dark room and running the print presses. One of thing we used to do was screen printing.

I stared seeing info on screen printing again in my Pinterest feed and decided that I can do this. The screen are so expensive so I decided to make by own. I went to Lowe’s and found some 1×2’s that were really straight and clean and then popped into JoAnn’s to buy some nylon drape. Nylon drape is on the big wide rolls by all the upholstery fabric.

I cut the wood pieces to 12″ for top and bottom and 16″ for the sides and using my corner wood clamp, but together the frame. Cut a piece of nylon drape and then got out my air stapler and attached the material.

I am very happy with how this turned out. Now to test it!

I am planning on using Annie Sloan chalk paint to do my first screen print. If that does not go well, then I will invest in some actual screen printing ink.
